Michael (Mike) Edward Ware, Sr.

Michael (Mike) Edward Ware, Sr. died peacefully on August 5, 2025 at the age of 91.

He was born on May 25, 1934 in Savannah, GA to John DeWitt and Mary Whalen Ware. Mike attended Sacred Heart School and was a graduate of Benedictine Military School where he was captain of the football team, a game he truly loved his entire life.  Mike worked as an Electrician for 44 years as an IBEW Union electrician working on many prominent commercial construction projects in the Savannah area.

Mike was a an incredibly kind, thoughtful, and quietly humorous man who loved everyone he met and never had an ill word for anyone.  He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Elizabeth, and an amazing hero to his four cherished children.

Mike is preceded in death by his adoring wife of 63 years, Elizabeth; his dear daughter, Anne Ware Lewis; his parents, John and Mary Ware; sister, Rosemary Ware; brothers, Jack Ware (Madge), Rev. Joseph Ware, Jerry Ware, and Tommy Ware (Agnes).

He is survived by a son, Michael Edward Ware, Jr.; daughters, Mary Ware Jacobs (Greg) and Megan Ware Coomer (Stephen); son-in-law, Brad Lewis; grandchildren, Kevin and Kyle Lewis, Maddie Carter (Ty), Caroline Coomer, Savannah and Peyton Ware, and Jack and Emma Jacobs; sister-in-law, Kathleen Powers Sanfilippo (Bob); brother-in-law, Hank Richardson; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the wonderful and loving caregivers at Savannah Square, Candler Hospital, and Hospice Savannah who treated Mike like family.

Visitation and Rosary will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.  Burial immediately following in Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery.
